Users, fonts and Valentine's Day CSS
What do application users, monotype fonts and Valentine’s Day CSS samples have in common? Other than this newsletter, not much. But check out this collection of random things to help you on your development journey.
Userbase
Userbase is the easiest way to add user accounts and data persistence to your static site. No backend necessary. Up to this point, I’ve almost exclusively listed products and services with a free tier. However, cheap doesn’t always mean free. Technically speaking, Userbase is open-source, so you could run your own version for the cost of hosting it somewhere, but they also offer a hosted version for just $50/year (for now). The best part of that is you aren’t limited to a single site or applications. That price gets you unlimited apps and unlimited users.
JetBrains Mono
A free and open source typeface for developers. Try JetBrains Mono in your IDE. Its simple forms and attention to every detail make coding a nice experience for developers’ eyes, no matter which IDE you choose. Coding fonts are always a hot topic, at least for me, so take a look at this free offering from JetBrains.
